The interconnected world of unofficial Dark Souls sequel Nightfall was just about finalized a whole year ago, but advances in modding tools led its creators to rebuild the whole thing

Breaking a year of near-silence on the project, Dark Souls: Nightfall lead Grimrukh has put out a 14-minute video update on the ambitious Dark Souls 1 fan sequel. The good news? They've really dialed in their modding tools to produce a version of their remixed DS1 world map that's simultaneously more ambitious and also technically cleaner, with less proverbial gum and tape holding it together behind the scenes. The bad news is that this required redoing a lot of work, and the project does not yet have a release date.

Tyler Wilde - Mat Piscatella - Nintendo - Hello, PC gaming here: Are the consoles OK? - pcgamer.com

Hello, PC gaming here: Are the consoles OK?

A few years ago we declared that the PC had won the console war, and it's also true that I've spent the past couple decades mocking Sony and Microsoft for their 30 fps games and their Kinectimals, but now the Xbox and PlayStation are really looking quite pale and I'm starting to feel bad. I was just razzin', but as we head into this year's summer showcases, confidence in the consoles has sunk to new lows and I'm wondering if they'll ever get their old glow back.

MultiVersus developers say an in-game option to purchase more lives with real money was 'a bug'

The makers of MultiVersus say an option giving players the ability to purchase more lives with real money during campaign missions is in fact «a bug,» and not a feature that's meant to be in the game. As you might imagine, I—and lots of other people—have questions.

The Axis Unseen, a 'heavy metal horror game' about bowhunting monsters from ancient folklore, drops a new trailer that is very metal indeed

Some games, you can just look at and immediately say to yourself, «Yeah, I want to play that.» The Axis Unseen is one such game: It's a «heavy metal horror game» about hunting horrific monsters from ancient folklore being made by Bethesda veteran Nate Purkeypile, whose previous credits include Fallout 3 and 4, Skyrim, and Starfield. Yeah, I want to play that—and in October, I will.

Lincoln Carpenter - Here's the trailer for Destiny 2's new raid, teasing The Final Shape's final showdown with The Witness - pcgamer.com

Here's the trailer for Destiny 2's new raid, teasing The Final Shape's final showdown with The Witness

Destiny raids have always featured fights against the universe's biggest bad guys, but they don't get bigger than what's waiting at the end of Salvation's Edge. The Final Shape's raid, opening its doors tomorrow at 10 AM Pacific, will finally pit players against The Witness—the primordial antagonist whose forces we've been fighting for a decade. Imagine like, the most evil guy, but times a million. The Witness is like that. But worse! In the raid trailer released today, Bungie's hype building is as on-point as ever, with all the slick slow-motion and song-synchronized gun reloads we've come to expect from a Destiny sizzle reel. Judging from all the clusters of massive, grasping hands and agonized, dismembered statues, Salvation's Edge looks like it'll be spooky. As it should—the raid will basically involve crashing The Witness's art studio, where it's in the middle of resculpting the entire universe into a big, sadistic Lego diorama. As is tradition, the opening of Salvation's Edge will also mark the kickoff of the accompanying race for the world's first raid clear, with Destiny's premier raiders competing to see who can crack each encounter's mechanics the fastest. Hopefully, those fireteams will only have raid enemies to worry about: Considering the recent Final Shape rollout woes and the server difficulties that disrupted the 2022 Vow of the Disciple raid race, it's hard to overlook the looming threat of race day connection errors. Even if you're not a raider—hello, fellow Destiny casuals—the raid race is still worth getting excited over. Since Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion in 2018, the first raid clears have usually triggered some wild changes in the game world, sometimes changing entire in-game areas in response to the often cosmic-scale conflict. Considering The Final Shape's raid will conclude a decade of storytelling on a battlefield that can warp all of reality, I'm hoping we've got some big surprises in store.

GOG will let you bequeath your game library to someone else as long as you can prove you're actually dead

You can't bequeath your Steam account to your loved ones when the sad day of your passing comes around, at least not without breaking the TOS, but it turns out you can leave your GOG games to someone—as long as everyone involved is willing to do some legwork up front.
