Launch details for a cheaper Meta Quest 3 headset have seemingly leaked

Launch details for a more affordable Meta Quest 3 headset have seemingly leaked ahead of an imminent reveal.

According to dataminer billbil-kun, who has a long track record of leaking new games and hardware prior to their official announcement, the new headset would appear to be called Meta Quest 3S.

Writing on Dealabs, they claimed it’s likely to be announced at Meta Connect 2024, which is running from September 25-25, and will reportedly launch worldwide on October 15, 2024.

Meta Quest 3S prices are expected to start at $299.99 / £289.99 / €329.99 for a 128GB headset, with a 256GB model costing $399.99 / £379.99 / €439.99.

Meta Quest 3 launched last October priced at $499.99 / £479.99 / €549.99 for the 128GB headset, and $649.99 / £619.99 / €699.99 for the 512GB model.

An Amazon advert featuring Meta Quest 3S has also seemingly leaked and is viewable below. If genuine, it corroborates some of billbil-kun’s reporting on the headset.

Batman: Arkham Shadow will be released in October as a Meta Quest 3 exclusive. The first gameplay footage for the title, which is set between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum, was revealed in August.

Meta recently closed first-party development studio Ready At Dawn, which it acquired in 2020. Its credits included PlayStation games God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta and The Order: 1886, plus VR titles Lone Echo and Lone Echo 2.
